The Isle of Muck is the smallest of the Small Isles in the Scottish Inner Hebrides. As of the 2011 census, Muck has a population of 27.
Muck is connected to the other Small Isles and Mallaig on the mainland by Calmac ferry. Passengers can also visit Muck by taking the MV Sheerwater from Arisaig. The MV Sheerwater also takes wildlife tours and Muck is well-known for it’s seal population. Some believe the name ‘Muck’ may have derived from the Gaelic word for popoise.
