Our Island Home was originally created as an information, advice and support service for young people in the Hebrides to help them to access affordable housing and remain in their island communities.

Over time, Our Island Home has evolved into a project intent on helping push the delivery of new affordable housing by supporting and advising communities; helping them demonstrate housing need, explore their housing options, investigate how they could meet their need and helping to identify land and grants available.

OIH encourages partnership working between communities, housing associations and local authorities to achieve the best possible solutions to rural and island housing issues. We believe in bringing people and organisations together to support each other, providing experience and expertise that will help deliver rural housing and take action against rural housing issues.
