Communications and Membership Assistant

We’re looking for a Communications and Membership Assistant to join our small team. This role is an opportunity for you to use your contemporary, lived experience of life in rural Scotland to provide social media, communications and marketing support for the organisation. You will work with our Communications Officer to build our engagement with rural communities, our membership and our online profile. We strive to be the key voice on rural housing issues in Scotland and this role will help us deliver this ambition.

You should be technically literate with experience of content writing / editing, strong organisational skills and the proven ability to work remotely.

You will assist in the production of media releases, social media and campaigns and work with the the Communications Officer to plan and deliver publicity material relating to the work of Rural Housing Scotland, our conferences and events. You will gain experience of the steps required to deliver a successful media campaign.

You will develop and maintain the Rural Housing Scotland membership database and work with colleagues to identify potential members and to market membership services. You will gain experience working with databases and in undertaking research.

By helping develop online events and webinars to grow the delivery of our work online you will gain experience of online events organisation, video production and zoom webinar hosting.

You will help us grow our engagement with young people in rural Scotland to ensure that their views and experiences are at the centre of what we do and that we develop services to meet their needs. Through social media you will gain experience of how to engage with young people, let them know what we do and how we can help.

As part of the Kickstart programme we will provide you with additional employability support.

Please note – our team work remotely and you may be based anywhere in rural Scotland for this post.
