Chris Coates, board member for the UK Cohousing Network, uses his experience of being part of the group who set up Lancaster Cohousing to talk through the practicalities of developing project and provide an insight into day to day living.
His talk covers aspects such as land acquisition; establishing goals; managing the build; and managing the changing needs of cohousers. In the Q&A session Chris explores issues such as navigating the line between being a community organisation and property developer; opening up cohousing to people from different income levels; the right number of households for cohousing; what happens when people want to move out; managing volunteer effort during the build and day to day life; and more.
